Good morning! I can't believe it's already October, I'm putting up my final pieces from September now which will be this design - Fig 52 Passion Flower and then Fig 56 Flower Spray in the next blog post. I had planned to complete much more of the Priscilla Book in September but these bigger designs (although relatively straight forward) took longer than I expected. Basically I made one design per week, the designs can be made quicker but with other things going on in day to day life I think a week is a good expectation for each of these makes.
So let's start with the beautiful Passion Flower Design. You can find the image for this in the
book on page 14 and the instructions on pages 16 - 17.
Note: My notes & the pattern in the book are written in UK Terminology

At first glance this piece looks a little complicated but as always taking the instructions step by step helps enormously. I was a little hesitant to start as I didn't really want to do the bullion / roll stitch but once I started they weren't too bad! You can see them in each of the flowers - around the centre rings. Mine certainly aren't perfect but as with everything in Irish Crochet - practice,
practice, practice! They will get there eventually.
I had to remind myself how to do the stitch, I practiced a few times and it definitely got a lot easier the more I did it. I used my little contraption of a hook with the blunt side of a needle attached (image here) but I imagine the more I do this stitch the easier it will get and I'll eventually just use a hook. There isn't any rushing with the bullion stitch in this design but it's a great exercise for practicing. This pattern is quite straight forward in terms of instruction but I've put a few notes below along with process pictures. If you have any questions or comments I would love to hear from you!

Fig 52 Notes
Helpful for: Practicing Bullion / Roll Stitch and Clones Knots. Shaping different style of leaves
This design is made up of 3 flowers (2 medium and one small), 2 leaves made up of separate sections which are sewn together, one long thick stem and a few thinner stems.
For the main thick stem - it says in the book to use 6 strands of padding cord - I used 12 strands for this part to try to differentiate it from the other stems.
